      Good day!

I need a bit of advice, I have an SG-2440 which act as my firewall and DHCP, I also applied a VLAN, also using OpenDNS for my web-filtering. My question is, am I overloading the device? If not can I add more function? What do you recommend? Can I add more like pfblocker and VPN functions? Or what is the best practice/function an SG-2440 can perform? I have around 70 to 80 users by the way.

      Thanks!

        You will probably be fine.

Doesn't tell us anything. It depends on what those users are doing, how much traffic they are generating, what kind of traffic, etc.

A comprehensive network diagram is worth 10,000 words and 15 conference calls.
DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

My apologies, mainly they are just using emails and some personal stuff like social media and listening to music.

I would expect it would be fine. Do you have a typical peak aggregate bandwidth usage figure?

I think I don't have. Our usage is not that intense. I would just like to set up all the necessary and applicable functions for the device that I have for learning/experience purposes and maybe in the future it'll be put in good use.

If I were you, I would not setup a pfsense box to learn and experiment on a live network with 70 or 80 users. Do it on something else - real hardware or virtualized. Learn the ropes (and pitfalls) there, then apply to the “real” network pfsense box.

What is your available WAN bandwidth? Do you have a lot of traffic between internal interfaces?
