EFI Boot on Precision 3431 SFF
-
Good Morning
I want to setup a pair of Precision 3431 SFF machines for a PFsense failover FW. I seem to get stuck on the first step which is installing Pfsense.
When I boot off the CD, it seems that the booting stops at:
cd0: <TSSTcorp CDDVDW SE-S084F TS00> Removable CD-ROC SCSI device
cd0: 40.000MB/s transfers
cd0: 664MB (340107 2048 byte sectors)
cd0: quirks=0x10<10_BYTE_ONLY)then after a minute or so it will display:
random: unblocking device.and this is where it stops.
I tried installing Centos7 and that works fine.
Can anybody help with this please?
Thank you

pfSense is FreeBSD
Btw :
This :cd0: <TSSTcorp CDDVDW SE-S084F TS00> Removable CD-ROC SCSI device cd0: 40.000MB/s transfers cd0: 664MB (340107 2048 byte sectors) cd0: quirks=0x10<10_BYTE_ONLY)
is your CD drive.
It's the non-listed next device that blows up the kernel.

Hi
Thank you fo rthe reply, but I saw on another website that he burned a DVD. Now this is weird but I thought I would try throwing away the CD i burned and use a DVD instead and it now seems to be booting normally.
Very weird but at least I can continue.

Kobus,
Please let us know how you are doing with configuring your pair of Dell PCs as an HA pair. I have a pair of HP 8300 small form factor PCs that I might want to set up as HA. I haven't looked into it at all until I saw your post. Good luck with the project!
