pfSense has supported multiwan configurations for a long time..

I am myself using the captive portal in a multi wan configuration ...so..it's already supported

however these two things are completely unrelated. captive has no relationship with multi wan

captive portal's role is to prevent unauthenticated users to access the internet. once they are authenticated, their traffic will be routed in the way you want (depending on your routes, nat rules, etc...)

              ultiwan configurations

What @chpalmer meant is : if your are using a captive portal, or not, multiwan can be used.
Other words : the two are not related.
              Most easy reply : yes.

A captive portal is LAN type interface with an extra firewall (ipfw) in front of it. So it uses the default 'pf' and ipfw. The 'pf' firewall is the one you use in the GUI to set your rules. ipfw is handled internally by pfSense and is set up so captive portal functionality is made possible.

edit @free4 was saying the same thing at the same moment.

thanks guys, so I supposed that CP is already working fine with multiwan without issues ? since upon reading this forum, this has not been fully supported.

sorry if there are confusions but i completely understand the difference between CP and Multiwan. the question is merely if CP now fully supported without any issue with Multiwan

???? That was in 2012 ..... That information might be important to you if you were using a pfSense from back then. Like 1.x ...... or so. Totally not supported of course.
