I have a couple servers behind this firewall that are in a VRRP cluster with 969 LAN VIPs. When a server assumes the master role it sends gratuitous arps out to the network. Due to a gap in intended functionality, I'm considering an additional configuration directive at the recommendation of the appliance vendor to have the master repeat these gratuitous arps out on a set interval; the recommended interval was 10sec but i'm concerned that may introduce too much load on my network. Do you foresee issues with this low of an interval on 969 VIPs in regards to the pfsense gateway running on the xg-1540 appliance? If so what do you think the lowest reasonable interval would be that would not produce noticeable load on the device? Do you think a better strategy to be to lower the arp cache time on the firewalls?
