When I power on my SG-4860, the status light is red and then turns off completely after a couple of minutes.

Should I consider it dead or are there any tips/tricks I can try to recover it?

Could be related to the Intel Atom bug, do you get anything from the console port ?

Get in touch with Netgate support.

You need to open a ticket with support. Even if you have community support, you can register and submit a ticket on the hardware issue.

Had the same issue on my SG-4860. It's almost certainly a hardware error. Netgate was very helpful in getting the unit fixed even though it was well out of warranty. Open ticket with them.
