      20679

      Who is process 20679 ?

Quick and nasty : kill it.
Better - start with a clean base : first, do re reboot of your pfSense, then upgrade.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

@Gertjan when i reboot appear this message
Packages are currently being reinstalled in the background.

Do not make changes in the GUI until this is complete.

If the above message is still displayed after a couple of hours, use the 'Clear Package Lock' button on the Diagnostics > Backup & Restore page and reinstall packages manually.

I waited a long time and did not repair

And when I removed pkg appear process with pid 20679 still holds the lock

When you visit System > Package Manager > Available Packages does it populate ?
And System > Package Manager > Installed Packages is filling up with your previous packages ?

process with pid 20679 still holds the lock

Even after a reboot it keeps saying process "20679 " is holding the lock ? This number doesn't change ?

Test your Internet connection and DNS.
If one of these is not ok, re installing is impossible and the re install process blocks in the back ground.

You could also import a config.xml without any packages, just keep a copy, edit it, and clean all the package info out.
                  Then install them all yourself.
Then import the original config.xml, which include all the package settings so you don't have to set them up individually.

@Gertjan thanks you are the best

the dns is working fine i will be reinstalling asap Because I rely on it very heavily on operating users.
                    Sorry for the inconvenience
When reinstalling pfsense, i can take advantage of the backup files by placing without installing any package. Is this correct way for restoring configuration ?

                      restoring configuration ?

When you re install pfSense, as soon as it's up and running, after you have defined at leat a LAN and WAN interface, so you can connect to the GUI, you can upload the last config.xml .
This will find all installed packages, because they are listed in config.xml.
This will take some download time, but will, depending on your download speed, bring back your pfSEnse as configured before.

Btw : why re installing pfSense if you have many users ?
Normally, you would swap another system in - while you upgrade your main system (like a 5 $ worth PC, old you need is an extra NIC or so)
