      Hi,
I am pretty new to firewall related things but I managed to configure pfsense and I can browse internet without a problem. Now I would like to add some port forwards and FW rules and I also need to use OpenVPN to access my private network from Internet.
However I noticed that my WAN IP (100.64.19.177/32) and my public ip address (from whatismyip.org 159.146.x.x) are not the same.

      My topology is like below:

      VDSL Router (Bridge Mode)
      |
      PFsense WAN(100.64.19.177)
      |
      PFSenseLAN (192.168.1.1)
      |
      Switch
      |
      Clients(192.168.1.0 network)

I was expecting that my WAN IP would be the same as my public ip address.
Now I dont know what I should do to reach my network from outside.
      Can you please advise?

So you are on a CGN and have not really a public address assigned by your ISP.
Your ISP uses an additional router to connect your WAN network to the internet (double NAT).

With that you will not be able to access your network from outside.

You may ask your ISP for getting a public IP or use a VPN service which forwards some ports to you.

@viragomann said in WAN IP and Public IP are not the same:

ask your ISP for getting a public IP or use a VPN service which forwards some ports to you.

So I should either apply my ISP to buy a public ip address or I can try to change my ISP.
          Thanks Viragomann,

I had that situation months ago. I called the ISP and asked for a public IP and I got it immediately with no discussion.
But that may depend on your internet contract.
Maybe IPv6 is an option for you.
