      Hi!

My Internet access is pretty unstable right now (it is supposed to get fixed soon but I am not holding my breath).

Each time that happens the DNS running on one of the servers which has a virtual IP stops being unable to query outside DNS servers and needs to be rebooted.

Now everytime the PPPoE connection is reestablished I get the following error message:

/rc.newwanip: The command '/sbin/ifconfig 'pppoe0' inet '69.165.167.204'/'32' alias ' returned exit code '1', the output was 'ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Destination address required'

Could this be the cause of the problem and if it is why does rebooting the server and not the firewall fixes thing?

Now this appears to be the problem reported here:

      https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/8413

which is, as someone already mentioned, not a duplicate and is about a year old.

I saw a fix somewhere which address this problem but was not originally meant for pfSense so I am somewhat leery to apply it to my firewall...

Could anybody shed some light on the problem I am experiencing and if it is, in any way, related to the error message I get when the PPPoE connection is reestablished?

Thank you and have a nice day!

      Nick

          Hi!

I still very much have the same problem, is there anything I can provide to help get it fixed?

Can anyone confirm/infirm what the following errors would cause, is my problem consistent with it?

It looks like every server which has a virtual IP has an issue of some kind after my Internet connection is reestablished..

There is a ticket open about this but it has not received any love in 2 years... ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜ž

          See: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/8413

Thank you and have a nice day,

          Nick
