changing LAN ip

Hello All,
I am new here. First time installed and testing/learning it.
Attempting to change LAN from default 192.168.1.1 to let's say 192.168.1.2
when I click on Save, getting "A valid interface to track must be selected." Changing IPv6 to None, and Save, getting "The DHCP6 Server is active on this interface and it can be used only with a static IPv6 configuration. Please disable the DHCPv6 Server service on this interface first, then change the interface configuration."
Where should I disable it, please?
If possible, I need to deal using web interface only, since I would like to install it on a remote location, where is a cisco gateway (which I am willing to smash) with IP 192168.1.1 and would access to it from a computer running on that location. So, I am planning pfsense change to 192.168.1.2, disable DHCP server and slowly learn and hopefully move to pfsense.

BTW, I had no problem changing it using a main menu on the PC using option 1 - Assing Interfaces

Most probably : the browser you're using is prefilling certain settings like selecting something random for the "IPv6 Configuration Type". This activates also the DHCP6 server, etc.

Setting up interfaces (& VPN stuff) etc is a one time job, and should be done ones, you being in front of the device.

Strange behaving, not sure why.
after installing, I made a backup. Then I made some changes in configuration, looks good. Then I attempted to change IP, form xx.1.1 to xx.1.2 - no luck - "a valid interface ...."
Then I changed IP from the main interface -1) Assign interface-.... - successful. Connecting using web interface to xx.1.2 - all looks good. Attempting to change IP to xxx. 1.3 - no problem, attempting to change to xx.1.1 - no problem. Any changes are good.
Then I made recovery from backup-again I cannot change IP using web, no problem to change using the main interface.
I'd say something to be checked by developers.

Could you post an image while trying to save/apply your settings ?
I'm trying to do the same things - can't make it fail.

Since I am learning it, i tried it in on few different PC(so far on 3 different sets of hardware) and I found that right after installation I cannot change IP using a web gui. After initial changing IP directly on the PC, on web gui I could go back and force - no issue. It happens on all 3 hardware set only after a fresh install.

Agree, if I would know it good enough. The current configuration in the office using cisco is running. Far from perfect, but running. I am looking to bring pfsence to the office with different IP (xx.1.2) with DHCP off.

Reviving an old thread.

A way to get around this issue is to out right delete the interface in Interface->Interface Assignment. Seemingly what is happening here is there are some areas within PF that has the <insert interface here> (in this case the LAN interface) as a dependency. I looked around in my config and it wasn't really apparent to me where the dependency is, but I didn't care since I don't use the LAN interface anyway. If you need the interface, you can just re-create it. Be aware you are completely killing the interface and if there is a routing sub-system attached to it, you will cause a network outage.

Yeah, the dependency is two fold. The default config has the WAN set as DHCPv6, the LAN set to track WAN for the IPv6 prefix and a DHCPv6 server enabled on LAN.

To disable that first disable the DHCPb6 server on LAN. Then you can set the LAN interface DHCPv6 type to none. Then you can do the same on WAN.
