      I know 2.4.5 has multiple fixes for alias resolving issues;
      https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/8531
      https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/9296

      I just can't run 2.4.5 yet due the serious bug "Very high CPU usage of pfctl and more causing very high load and a hardly usable internet connection"

      My question;

      *** Can we patch 2.4.4-p3 using System > Patches for any of these alias fixed in 2.4.5?

        The patches you would need are to a binary executable, so no, not really. You would need to be able to get the C source code, create a pfSense builder environment, and then recompile the filterdns executable. So not all that feasible for most users.

        FQDN Aliases are populated from DNS using the filterdns executable program. The PHP GUI code gives filterdns the parameters it needs.

          @bmeeks Thanks very much for the answer. I did try and download the patches and test, but, not apply and saw that it wasn't going to work from the patch test.
          Hence the post asking.

          2.4.5-p1 - I shall have to wait.

          Thanks again.
