IP6 NAT
-
Is there anything special to do with NATing for external IPv6 addresses being forwarded to internal IPv4 network? I have things like cams that used to work that are not. Not sure if isp has locked something down or there is something I haven't done with external source being ipv6.

Not sure how you think that would ever work..
If you have IPv6, just allow the traffic to your devices IPv6 address, there is zero reason to nat in IPv6. And if you have external IPv6 why would you want to forward that to an IPv4 address?

I suppose the scenario is (and sadly I can relate) that IPv6 is available externally (on WAN from ISP or via Tunnel) - or in the worst case, no IPv4 on WAN is available anymore (speak DSlite or CGN etc.) but some oldschool/bad implemented devices can only do IPv4 so you'd neet 6to4 translation from WAN->{DestNetwork}?
Besides using pkgs like HAproxy I don't think that will work otherwise (if I understood correctly).

Well if the OP wants help he is going to have to post some specifics to his problem, vs just something that makes no sense why anyone would want to do such a thing..
Guessing at what the OP wants or needs is not going to get anyone anywhere that is for sure.
So your guess is his ISP only provides him IPv6, and his crap device on his network only does IPv4. Solution - get IPv6 capable device.. That is really the only solution if he can not get IPv4 public IP..
He could vpn into his network if he wants to get this device remotely as well. He can for sure use IPv4 over an IPv6 vpn connection.

Aye there are possibilities ... :) But the problem itself is unclear. The guess was based on the "things like cams". I know quite a bunch of crappy implemented cheap IP cams that only do IP4. Those pesky things that you have to even enter subnetmasks with 255.255.255.000 ... urgh

wow, sorry I didn't explain. Externally things like my phones & tablets seem to only have an IP6 address. pfSense 2.4.5 is between my internal IP4 network and the world. I guess the first question should have been: can external devices with IP6 only addresses be passed through pfSense to access items on the internal network (ipv4)? If so is there anything special I have to do to set this up. I have found things like in advanced networking like all ip6 traffic will be blocked by the firewall unless this box is checked. I am not sure if the previous NAT entries (that worked with ip4 -> ip4 rules) have to be modified for ip6 -> ip4 or it might be my ISP changing their rules and blocking more than they used to .
