2.2.4 to 2.2.5 failed can't find 'kernel'

Before I go about figuring out how to restore my most recent backup, is there any other option for me?
I've been smoothly updating for over a year now. This what I saw when I plugged my screen in:
BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.02
Consoles: internal video/keyboard
BIOS drive C: is disk0
BIOS driveD: is disk1
BIOS 637kB/2093632kB available memoryFreeBSD/x68 bootstrap loader, Revision 1.1

Loading /boot/defaults/loader.conf
can't find 'kernel'can't load 'kernel'
Type '?' for a list of commands, 'help' for more detailed help
OK _ -
My guess is the disk filled up.

That would be interesting, as I had recently deleted a fair number of backups, so there should have been considerably more room available on the drive than before other upgrades. IIRC, there was more than 2 GB of unused storage.
How can I retrieve the autobackup? I can see in /root/

Sadly, I have the same issue, did you solve your problem?
