Problem with WAN Connection
-
Hello there,
my pfsense box is straight connected to my fiber modem. But since i switched to pfsense i got a big problem with my stability of my fiber. I Got this error, the funny thing though is, it only happend, if i maxed out my fiber while downloading with full speed. 500/500. Any ideas ? And i have a static ip so it does not change at all.send_interval 500ms loss_interval 2000ms time_period 60000ms report_interval 0ms data_len 0 alert_interval 1000ms latency_alarm 500ms loss_alarm 20% dest_addr xxx.xxx.xxx.1 bind_addr xxx.xxx.xxx.30 identifier "WAN_DHCP "

the problem will be with this and its throughput:

why should the throughput be a problem ? can you give me a reason why ?
-
The Realtek ethernet controller will be the bottleneck
because you switched to a faster speededit: please check the forum for how many suggest Realtek based configuration
-
hmm.. i dont get it.. i still have the same speed as before. Before i switched to a pfsense box i run it on my Edge Router Lite, and there i works just flawlessly. But since i use the pfsense box it drop the wan as far i use max speed.
can you please be more specific in which case the realtek controller is the bottleneck. ?
-
in every case
there is a driver for Realtek under FreeBSD just not really useful
https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?re(4)it is much more expedient

that answer does not help me.. i need to know why. so, you say the realtek gigabit ethernet port is to slow to handle my 500/500 fiber ? but why, there must be something you can tell my why ?

@z3r0bug
you just started here, not just my opinion is what I describedthe forum is full of issues descriptions caused by Realtek controllers and lots of good advice

okay, that is some info i can use for something.
