I have gone into the network adapter settings for a mac mini Mac OS and a windows 10 pc tower to ensure the correct function feature is enabled for WOL packets to work. In the windows 10 machine, I also went into the BIOS to ensure that it can receive WOL packets.

However, there are times after some weeks over weekend that computers in our office all shut off. I think it is our electrical system having intermittent surges causing the abrupt irregular power offs of computers. Our network infrastructure devices has a UPS so they maintain power.

When I come back in after the weekend I go to the WOL service in pfsense and send magic packets to the MAC address of these two devices on the LAN interface. It never works, thus I have to get my 10 foot ladder and go into the ceiling to manually power both of them on as they are located above the conference room and video wall.

I am just seeking any insight as to how to troubleshoot and resolve this if anyone has had similar experiences with this pfsense service. Thank you.

        Hello!

        Lots of variables...

Make sure BIOS AC Recovery option set to POWER ON.
Setup Automatic Power On schedule in BIOS.
        Check S4/S5 states in BIOS.
        ...?
