Why do you have another router, in addition to pfSense?
-
I simply want to use PfSense as a firewall and gateway to the internet, just so it's secure. Also to build up my expertise.
-
Why do you have pfsense wan and lan connected to the same network?
I doubt your wireless router is doing vlans, so from your drawing you look at have both wan and lan on the same network for pfsense.

I am running pfsense of a laptop.
I can't fit an ethernet cable or anything downstairs to the router as that's all complicated with like the shape of the house etc. I use the powerline to bring the wifi connection upstairs so the 2nd powerline thing is used to give internet access (uplink) to the switch, if that makes sense).

That doesn't explain this.

I'm confused on this, like I say I am new to pfsense but it's ok, I will figure it all out.

You can not put the wan and lan on the same network.. Sure looks like your going to connect the wan and lan to the same network.
