So far I have experience two hard lockups on the pfsense box. There is no network connectivity and the keyboard is unresponsive. The only cause of action seems to be a cold reboot. The box recovers and functions as per normal. Both times the box was up for over 30 days - but as I have read of pfsense servers running for years, I suspect it may be because of running wireless on the server as well. Each time in the haste to restore connectivity, I just rebooted and carried on.

What steps would one take to diagnose the cause of this the next time it happens? What should I try or what logs can I look at (after a reboot) to help diagnose the problem?
