Been beating my head on this one. Cannot connect to online games says services are unavailable. Forwarded all ports and outbound NAT. Still no go. I did a fresh install with no packages and it worked. Tried eliminating packages one at a time and nothing conclusive. Nmap says all 1000 ports on PS3 are closed? I'm at a loss. If I hook the PS3 directly to the modem I can play online fine. Through PFsense is a pipedream at this point.

Help before I destroy my box. RRRRRRR!

    Thanks.

Wow really? I can connect via NAT 3 (Sony term) no problem without any config.

However on the PS4 it did take a direct connection to the PFSense Box and UPnP enabled (both checkboxes as i didnt know if it would be the Microsoft or Apple type) and with an extranal IP address on the WAN (thanks to the draytek vigo 130 for an ADSL PPPoA/PPPoE passthrough) ive now got a steady NAT 2 connection in the network connection details.

I have no other setting for the PS4 other than the above.

      Rob

Did not resolve issue. I have narrowed it down. It's in the proxy and content filter. I believe what I'm going to have to do is buy another NIC and create a new network for the PS3 at this point. I shutdown proxy and filter I can connect. I can run the proxy and it will stay connected and I can leave and come back. But if I re-enable my transparent redirect to the filter then it will block me. I have add all exceptions I can think of but no luck.

Actually it was my transparent redirect rule causing the issue. It was a blanket redirect so I created a custom alias to exclude the PS3 IP. Be sure to have a static DHCP assignment for PS3. Issue resovled.

That actually makes sense because GTA uses HTTP/HTTPS to connect to an API for certain things.  If you packet capture a GTA session you'll see just how terrible the multiplayer communication side of the game is.
