Dynamic dns High availability sync
-
Hi
I just noticed that dynamic dns settings in a HA setup are not replicated to secondaries
Is this an omission? A bug or a feature? -
It is intentional, since Dynamic DNS entries typically track interfaces, and interface addresses are unique per HA node.
So there are some cases where it makes sense, but the majority of cases would be harmed by sync, not helped.

@jimp Oh well, I suppose that Ha setups with dynamic ip's aren't that common.
It could be an option on what to sync, with default left unmarked. - non replicated.Copy paste did the job in the mean time.

That isn't very effective since most users tend to not scrutinize such lists and click everything.
Technically speaking CARP/HA require static IP addresses, though there are a few use cases like Multi-WAN with DynDNS tracking a gateway group where it can still make sense in HA. Those cases are far more rare than the potential for misuse, however.

@jimp True story :)
