Hi jimp, I tried that. Process also seems to just hang. Strange.

Just hangs forever here. Then I have to go cycle these services again before vCenter thinks VMware tools integration is running.

What other packages do you have installed?

You said other packages reinstalled OK, was that before or after this one?

It might be that some other package has the pkg utility stuck. If you have something like FRR, squid, pfBlocker, and so on then try restarting all of those services (or reboot) and see if it works again.

I don't have much on this particular firewall.

open-vpn-client-export and Quagga_OSPF which both upgraded as expected during the base firmware upgrade.

Quagga could be doing it. Restart that service from Status > Services and see if that makes a difference.

Okay, doing so will take all of my routes down, so I'll have to wait a bit. You want me to stop the Quagga service and then try and upgrade VMtools while it is in the stopped state?

No need to keep it down, just restarting the service should be enough.

Hmm.. If that is the case, I am sure I had done that. Let me go kick it again and just confirm. Thanks.

@jimp Wow, you were on to something here. I stopped the Quagga services and BAM!, I didn't have to do anything else. VMtools was up to date as soon as I went back to the package management screen. Thank you.

Can you provide anymore information that brought you to this troubleshooting recommendation? What about Quagga running would stop a seemingly unrelated package from installing?

                          It's this: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/10610

In your case the upgrade never fully finished because the same problem affects quagga so it was sitting there waiting on quagga to complete still.

We're still working on that problem.
