VK T40E upgrade path?

This one has served us well for 5+ years, but this morning I gave me a fright when I upgraded as it took ages for it to actually reboot.
I have thought a long time about having an extra unit and duplicate the configs, so what would you do in this case for less than 10 users in the office and less than 5 VPN users?
Go for a really small appliance just as a backup unit or get something like the SG-5100 and replace the current unit and keep the old as backup unit? -
Hard to tell with only a few informations...
Are you running any packages? What is your WAN bandwidth? What is your bandwidth peak/need between the internal LAN and OPT network?
Sure you can just buy the SG-5100, import the config and it will be fine. But maybe the SG-1100 can also fulfill your requirements.-Rico

Thanks. The unit is just firewall and VPN. There are no extra packages loaded.

Depending on your bandwidth needs, the SG-1100 will be fine.
But keep in mind the 3 ports are virtual separated with VLANs, so you need to adjust your T40E backup config before restoring it to the SG-1100.
If you don't care about the money and want some resources/ports left for the future, go for the SG-5100.-Rico

Yep really need to know what bandwidth you have now or are likely to get in the future.
The VK-T40E is good for ~350Mbps though so any of out current devices should be able to replace it. I would certainly look at the SG-3100 as a more direct upgrade path, 3 discrete interfaces.

Thanks. It would probably make sense to get the 3100 then. Our current uplink is 100mb/s, but that is just limited. We have fiber so I guess we can get what we want to pay for. In that case I would just put in the 3100 and keep the old unit as backup.

That's what I would do, yes.
Are you running any packages or VPNs? At 100Mbps that's no problem.

VPN yes, extra packages: No.

Ok, the 3100 is probably ideally suited there then. It will do ~100Mbps OpenVPN and closer to 300Mbps IPSec if required.
