Unable to print from wireless
-
I have 2 seperate LANs set up with pfsense, one for my wired devices and the second for my wireless router. My wireless device (Airport Express) is simply acting as a bridge and not handling any of the DHCP. My wired LAN is 10.0.1.0/24 and my WiFi is 10.0.2.0/24. I can access the internet just fine on both LANs. I can even connect to my wired LAN devices from my wireless devices. However my wired printer is not allowing me to print from my wireless devices. It has a 10.0.1.4/24 static IP and I can print from it if I am wired into my network (w/ an IP of 10.0.1.0/24) but on my wireless devices it will not auto discover it nor will it print to it. The strange thing is that I can ping the printer (10.0.1.4/24) from any wireless device and it responds… Is there something I have configured incorrectly in pfSense?

Not wireless related so moved the thread.
If these are Apple clients, you probably need mDNS cross-subnets. Avahi package handles that.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. Figured since I couldn't print from wireless, it was wireless related.
What exactly does mDNS cross-subnets do and how do I set that up?

Are your clients Macs? They auto-discover things like printers using mDNS. You need something to pass that between subnets, which is what Avahi does. Install it under System>Packages and configure it accordingly.

Yes they are Macs. I installed that package and enabled it but something does not appear correct?
I ran:
avahi-browse --all
and got back:
Failed to create client object: Daemon not running
EDIT:
Never mind even though I enabled it and restarted pfSense, the service was not actually running. I started the service and it is now working. Thanks so much, I did not know this was a package on pfSense! This will most likely solve my other issue of not seeing a homebridge that was running on my wired LAN!!
