Restore PfSense on a new server with one less ethernet card ...
-
Greetings to the community. My PfSense server that had 4 ethernet interfaces suffered irreparable failure, and for reasons of economy I need to use a PC that only has three ethernet interfaces. When I try to restore the configuration of the old server, it is reported that there is a type mismatch, which I believe is caused by the different architectures between both computers and the network cards and their quantity. How can i solve this. Can you explain it to me in detail? Thank you very much.

If all four interfaces were assigned you will have to remove one or assign it as a VLAN etc instead when you restore the config into the new box.
If the NICs(drivers) are the same and you only had three interfaces assigned it may not require any changes. What NIC types are in the old and new boxes?

I am very grateful for your response.

Sorry I typo'd that. I meant 'what' NIC types?
If they are the same it should be relatively easy.

If they are the same it should be relatively easy. The old NICs are TpLink Fast Ethernet brand, and the new ones are Encore.

I mean what chipset, like are they both using igb NICs for example?
If they are not the same you should still be able to reassign them in the GUI before rebooting into the new config though.
Have you done this and are up and running now?
