Can Anyone help me with this log. I have been having very very bad connection problems.... about every 2 hours I get this...

      this is a pfSense SG-4860

Some things I absolutely don't understand is
"/rc.filter_configure_sync: The gateway: WAN_DHCP is invalid or unknown, not using it."
Is a long time ago WAN that is no longer there and has been deleted.

"Hotplug event detected for WAN(wan) static IP (xx.xx.xx.xx )" Somewhere I read that , that could be a cabling issue so I ran new patch cables from the modem to the pfSense.

This one is really driving me crazy any help with be GREAT!!

Yeah, that looks like igb1 is actually losing link. All the other log messages are generated by the various scripts run because of that.

        What is igb1 connected to?

Can you assign WAN to a different port?

Try putting a switch in between the WAN and whatever it's connected to.

igb1 is connected to a comcast CBR-T modem.

I could assign Wan to igb3.

I guess the question is it Comcast or the pfSense dropping the link? I suspect that it is Comcast but not positive.

The only other issue (not a huge issue), is I just ordered 2 XG-7100 for this site and the branch site. They should be delivered Thursday, so installing them this weekend. I would love to clear this up before I install them and have problems with bran new equipment.

          You said,
"Try putting a switch in between the WAN and whatever it's connected to"

Would this eliminate the "hotplug event" but I would still lose internet connection. Or am I looking at what you are saying wrong?

          Thank you for your help

When actually losing link like that we have to assume bad hardware somewhere and first try to eliminate that as a potential issue.

You already swapped out the cables so that's the first thing out of the way.

If the port is bad in the SG-4860 then re-assigning WAN to igb3 will solve it.

Id the modem end is bad, putting a switch in between will prevent the link being lost so you will not all those scripts run. You will still see gateway alarms on the WAN though, the connection will still go down if the modem is dropping link with the switch.

If you only have one WAN you can Disable Gateway Monitoring Action in the gateway settings and that will minimise the disruption you see whilst still providing monitoring stats.

Thank you, very much. I put a switch in-between the modem and indeed the Hotplug event went away. However the connection still was up and down, a lot. Called out Comcast they replaced the modem and adjusted the signal (was too high) and everything seems to be working pretty well now. Thank you again for the great advice!
