WiFI card is not Detected
-
Hello, colleagues! Please help me. I bought a new Wi-Fi card. Tp-Link Archer T4E. But this is not defined in pfsense. I think the system doesn't have the right driver. Pfsense does not have an lspci command. How can I view the list of supported Wi-Fi devices?

Hi,
The kernel is FreeBSD, from www.freebsd.org.
Because the version matters : it's 11.3See, for example, this question, and the very first answer.
Btw : in theory, if a driver exists, but isn't included in the FreeBSD 11.3 from pfSense, you can add it manually.
There are many threads about how to do so - see the "Realtek NIC" thread.@humaxoid said in WiFI card is not Detected:

Nearly all wired APs ;)
Wifi NIC's using PCI or USB has been discussed a lot.
Just one : https://forum.netgate.com/topic/103629/adding-a-tp-link-wireless-pcie-card-ac1900The thing is : if the driver isn't available as open source neither supported by the brand, it's a no go.

This device is based on a Realtek chip
pciconf -lv
none3@pci0:5:0:0: class=0x028000 card=0x820310ec chip=0x881210ec rev=0x01 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.'
device = 'RTL8812AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter'
class = network -
There is no support for 802.11AC in pfSense. So even if you find a .ac card that has a driver it will only operate in N mode.
