I am awaiting delivery of a new SG-5100 to replace an SG-4860. Is there a way for me to use a backup of the SG-4860 to restore to the new SG-5100? Given the difference in hardware, are there any gotcha's I need to watch out for?

Yes, that should work without any problem.
But make sure to connect the SG-5100s local console, because the first Reboot after restoring your Config it will ask to reassign Interfaces.

Thanks, that is good to know. One of my interfaces is in LACP configuration over two ports to the switch - will that present any issues?

I never tried, the worst case would be to manually edit the Config before restore.

If you have interfaces and sub-interfaces the config import can fall down when it asks you to reassign them unless you're very careful.
For example if you lagg is currently igb2 and igb3 those don't exist on the SG-5100 so you first need to recreate the lagg for the ix NICs then assign it.

It can be easier to edit the config directly for that. We can also help you with it if you open a ticket:

The other thing to watch out for there is if you have ATLQ traffic shaping configured. The ix driver does not directly support that.

Still waiting for the new SG-5100 to arrive. But I thought I might make my life simpler by taking down the LAGG and assigning 1 vlan per interface (except for one interface where there are 2 vlans). Will this make the conversion from SG-4860 to SG-5100 easier? Will it just be a matter of reassigning igb2-5 to whatever the corresponding interfaces are on the SG-5100? Or will the presence of vlans still cause headaches?

It will still make it tricky to import dircetly.

I would just hand edit the config to match the physical NICs in the SG-5100. Or open a ticket and have us do it.

OK, will do, once the device arrives. Thanks.
