Bandwidth limiter.

Hi All,

Sory if this question has been asked a thousand times already but has the traffic limiter been fixed in the latest version of PFsense? I followed this tutorial on youtube:

But I wanted to apply it to the LAN rather than just an IP address. Can't seem to get it to work.

My apologies for not watching the youtube vid, but yes, limiters apparently have problems with NAT/Squid or something like that. Within the last page or two of this sub-forum there are threads on this topic.

I think these problems are fixed in pfSense 2.3.

If you could explain your goals and problems with text, I would be more inclined to help. All youtube videos are 10x longer than they need to be, so I very much prefer text (nowadays).

No problem. Basically I just wanted to put a bandwidth cap in place on the LAN to prevent all of the bandwidth being used up by one person that might be downloading a large file. There will be a VOIP system which will need to have guaranteed bandwidth. I have followed some guides without success.

The limiter has me stumped.

I've created an in/out limiter, pics attached and have created a firewall rule which I'm actually not too sure if it's correct, any advice?

Rule should be source LAN Net dest any.

Interface rules match on connections coming into an interface. Connections from LAN hosts will have a source address on LAN net.
