I have a Minux Android media PC that streams TV from various places.
Its hard wired on to my network switch which is plugged directly to the netgate firewall.
Every now and then at totally random times, the TV app drops the connections, buffers and sometimes does not even reconnect.

To I have completed many tests on this, changed the media PC, connected it direct to the back of the firewall and no change. So today I plugged it directly in to another router on the internet line bypassing my netgate and it has played flawlessly now for over 12 hours.

All other traffic and connection which I have running dont drop when the media PC has issues, so I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Anyone can point me in the correct direction to find out why ?

      Thanks

Check logs in pfSense and on the device to see what happens at that point.

        DHCP lease fails to renew?

        DNS fails?

        Link bounces?

        IP conflict?

        Steve

I have several Android TV devices here that work great behind pfSense:

          • Nvidia Sheild 2019 Pro
          • Nvidia Sheild 2019 (Tube)
          • Chromecast with Google TV

Nothing special about them on the network either. Some are wired, some are wireless. None have network drops like that.

@stephenw10 , DHCP lease is 8 days and this device has a reservation in place, DNS, I have two and they are not reporting anything. The internet is stable, bounces maybe once a week on a bad week.

@jimp I have tried two boxes so far, neither show any issues CPU/Memory wise, one is a Formuler TV and one a Minix Android PC, both work fine on the internet side of my Netgate.
