Is loss of 3-4 (ping) packets acceptable with (CARP) fail-over and again with fail-back?

Is the loss of 3-4 packets acceptable during CARP or is this a normal value? And is it possible to tune CARP to prevent this loss?
Any suggestions on how to tune?
