from APU2 to SG-3100 : interfaces and switch configuration
-
At a customer we plan to migrate from a PC Engines APU2 to a Netgate SG-3100.
The appliance will arrive tomorrow and my job is to migrate the configuration.I browsed the forum a bit and found the offer to file an issue at Netgate support. Maybe I will do that ;-)
What if I want to try it myself: when I migrated other customers to SG-1100, I had success with editing the exported xml-config and importing it.
Do I have to "preserve switch config" at import? AFAI understand this keeps the internal switch config of the device I import into, right?
Maybe someone could share an anonymized backup xml of a SG-3100 for me to check in advance.
Thanks so far, Stefan

Importing into the SG-3100 is far less of an issue than the SG-1100 since (unlike the 1100) it does not require any switch/vlan config to function. Especially coming from an APU which also has 3 NICs. You should just be able to import it in the gui, re-assign the interface and reboot.
For reference though here is the default config:

@stephenw10 thanks. In the meantime I already have done that and it was quite straight forward, as you mentioned.
I will plug in the new appliance in the next days and see what happens (I also modified a switch port to be a "PVID port", just to learn and prepare).
