I just tried to download a single iso image and apparently you also tried to automatically download extra files. What are these extra files you tried to download?

Huh? Your downloading what from where? Your talking download of pfsense iso from here?

        https://www.pfsense.org/download/

        It downloads the 1 file

@johnpoz It appears that it downloads more than one file. I am on a Mac mini, using Chrome browser, I clicked on the DOWNLOAD button exactly as you have shown. 64 bit iso. Then my browser pops up a message saying the site attempted to download an "additional" file and gave me an option to permit or reject it. So the pfsense site does indeed attempt to download something else other that the iso file.

And what is this extra file it tries to download? The checksum file?

I just downloaded this with chrome - and again only 1 file is downloaded.. No pop ups asking anything, nor any files show to be downloaded other than the file I downloaded?

Maybe you have some addon or something? I can not duplicate what your seeing.

@johnpoz I don't know what that additional file was because I declined to allow the browser to download it. I noticed that the pfSense-CE-2.4.5-RELEASE-p1-amd64.iso.gz was indeed downloaded because I have it. To my knowledge, I don't have any addons installed.

Does it even tell you what the name of the file is that its trying to download extra?

Chrome creates a file while its downloading

                crdownload.png

Could it be your system warning you about that? Then it renames it?

I can not duplicate what your seeing - and without more info, like the name of what its trying to download? Not much else can help with..

I don't have a mac mini to test with, but I don't see such behavior in any browser, firefox, chrome, edge..
