Is there any way I can fix this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I've been doing regular updates on this sg-1100 for a while without issue until today.

That can happen if multiple update processes are run simultaneously. It's fixed in 2.5.
Shutdown the SG-1100 and remove the power completely. That resets the crypto module.
It should be fine when you boot back up again.

Thanks for the info! I will give it a shot!

@stephenw10 Worked like a charm. Thanks sir! Is pfsense 2.5 available as a stable release for sg-1100 yet? https://x.x.x.x/pkg_mgr_install.php?id=firmware says 2.4.5 p1 is still the newest version available.

Not yet, still some bugs to be ironed out.
