      Hi guys.

I wonder if there are any news about the ETA of pfSense 2.5.0. How's developement going on? It still seems to be based on FreeBSD 12.0. Shouldn't it be at FreeBSD 12.1?

Maybe anyone has some news. Happy holidays!

We all have the news as it's one click away.
Some 10 issues are new and or in progress. The rest is awaiting feedback.
When this list goes to 'empty' there will be reasons to get exited.

You can install the dev version of 2.5.0 right now, and yes, it's based on 12.0 as of today.
Shifting to 12.1 right now will introduce big delays as code changes will be needed thus more bugs thus more testing.

Btw : I'm just another happy 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 user.

edit : the devs do mention info about a release ones in a while : "when it's ready".

Edit : and where are the logs ??

@gertjan Yes I'm also happy with 2.4.5p1 but also excited for 2.5.0 :) Thanks for the link. Googled around but didn't found that one.

soon = when it is ready

We, as users, can transform "soon" into "sooner".
Use the latest dev version of 2.5.0 and report findings against https://redmine.pfsense.org/projects/pfsense/issues?query_id=105 and new issues, after forum post and / or redmine post and confirmed, => new issues https://redmine.pfsense.org/projects/pfsense/issues?query_id=160

@gertjan Have to catch up now or later. It'll be fine. I have faith that they'll get it done right first and quickly second. :)

We've been on 12-stable for some time. That is now shown as 12.2-stable since 12.2 was released and the stable branch is what that comes from. As I understand it at least. 😉

But, yeah, still 'when it's ready'.

I'm reminded here of the famous saying (often found in project management): "Good, Fast, or Cheap? Pick any two". In this case we are all getting something good and cheap (free), ergo it won't necessarily be _________. 😎

That being said, I'm looking forward with anticipation to 2.5 as well...when it's ready. 😁
