Whats your average packet size on the firewall??
-
Calculated its around 1301 bytes here....
Seems pretty big so curious to see what people see on average.
-
What are you calculating that with? All interfaces?
-
@stephenw10 Packets in and Bytes in.
-
In/out packets 55054177/41407511 (45.54 GiB/5.03 GiB)
So 888B In and 139B Out.
Maybe not typical. That's the WAN interface so includes gateway monitoring pings etc.

Well, that depends entirely on what you're doing. For example, if you're downloading a lot of large files, then that number would be close to the MTU. On the other hand, lots of ssh or telnet sessions or VoIP would have a lot of small packets.
-
Indeed. Those numbers were from an internal firewall. My edge box sees a lot more video streaming for example:
In/out packets 115264264/64672898 (123.68 GiB/15.50 GiB)
1152 In 257 Out

I make that 1430B. I guess you have mostly full size TCP packets inbound.
