DHCP client issues with multiple hd homerun devices
-
I have an ancient HD homerun device that I thought was just malfunctioning, it cannot receive a dhcp address from pfsense. I've tried to plug it into a few different places in the network. I have no other dhcp issues for the most part. I purchased a brand new HD homerun connect duo. Both the old and the new units have the issue - I see the offer in the logs but they never accept or receive the correct IP. I've tried dhcp reservations - no luck. I have an old router hanging around, and both HD homerun units connect fine to this unit. Running 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 (arm64) , SG-1100. At this point I'm looking for any crazy suggestions or workarounds. ;-)

@gpfsenser Interestingly, this same issue was also happening with a cisco switch on the same network. As a workaround, I have a dynamically available bootp server. That's working for now, but ideally I'd love to figure out why pfsense and hd homerun devices do not get along.

Not a lot to go one here. Have you tried plugging something else into the interfaces the HD Homeruns are plugged into to verify other devices can get an IP addresses from pfsense thru those interfaces? Or vice versa, plug the hdhomeruns into interfaces you know are getting IP address for other devices.
Better yet, if you have an available interface, plug the hdhomeruns directly into the pfsense box to see if they get IP addresses.

@hieroglyph I will try the direct plug in route at some point just to see - I have configured a workaround for this anomaly. Confirmed still an issue on 21.02...
