adding RAM to Pfsense Box. Dell Vostro i3

I shut down the machine and added another module of ram, PFsense doesnt see this after reboot... Its not a matching stick of ram but its of the same size of 4gb. Maybe I should boot into the BIOS and make sure the machine sees the extra stick..just thinking outloud..

I understand 4gb is plenty, im running clam av and a cache server all with the recommended settings, memory usage is starting to peak at around 61%

You can always boot just the new stick in the other ram stick's slot and boot into the BIOS to see if it is seen at all. Then add in the old stick, boot again back into bios to see if it now sees 8gig, provided it saw the new stick when you booted just it. It is also a good idea to use RAM with the same speed and timings, so while that original stick is out, copy off the info about it that should be on a sticker and compare its specs with the new stick. Sometimes you get lucky with this stuff and the timings are close enough to spit and they work together.

Yes, there's pretty much no way pfSense would not see it if it's detected by the BIOS.
It sounds like it's not compatible ram.
