ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1 (disconnected)

Re: Ugen6.2: <pixart>at usbus6 (disconnected)</pixart>
I have been running pfSense on several HP Elite 8300 SFF PCs for a couple of years. I picked up another unit of the same type and installed pfSense 2.4.5 p1 by using the thumb drive .img file and balena Etcher.
I noticed that there are messages scrolling on the console VGA screen that say:
ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1 (disconnected)
ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1
ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1 (disconnected)
ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1
ugen1.4: <PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse at usbus1 (disconnected)When I search for this string using google, I find only mentions of this exact message being described by users of FreeBSD.
For troubleshooting, I purchased 2 new corded mice. Whether I use the original mouse, or the new mice, the messages continue.
Does someone have an idea of what is going on here?
Thanks.

Try running
usbconfig dump_all_desc
and see what that device actually is, what it's VID and PID are.
You might have to run that a few times if it keeps disconnecting I guess. It's probably some internal peripheral that's USB connected unless you actually have a mouse connected in which case it's probably just a bad mouse.

Hi Steve, thank you for posting your response.
I did run the
usbconfig dump_all_desc
command, and got a load of data. It showed the USB keyboard and the USB mouse.
So then, I swapped out the Microsoft mouse for a Logitech mouse and ran it again, and it came up with the data on the new mouse. Of course, that didn't stop the issue of the mouse disconnecting, so I plugged in 3 mice. Now I'm really getting some USB connections and disconnections on the console, constantly!
I have several of these HP Elite 8300 SFF PCs, so I swapped SSDs with one of the other's, and it is running that pfSense image cleanly, with no scrolling messages about a mouse!
I am going to chalk this up to a hardware issue, but a strange one. Thanks again, Steve.

Yeah, that seems likely. If the message reflect the actual connected hardware at that time it's probably a bad power component in that USB bus.
You might find it has several USB buses and they may not share the same power supplies. Or try using a powered USB hub perhaps. Or serail console instead if it has a serial port.Steve
