      using latest : 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)

      My firewall won't reboot.

I try to reboot and during boot up the menu starts loading normally then all items start scrolling super face and system freezes with CPU # error. # = number between 1 to 6.

System won't reboot until I reload OS and restore from backup.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

I try rebooting, starting from scratch and nothing.

Firewall runs fine for months on end but never reboots, never shut down and start up.

Power outage or anything, need to re-install.

      Any ideas.. tips?

It sounds like a hardware failure. I recently had to replace my hardware for that reason. Try running memtest and see what happens.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
        UniFi AC-Lite access point

        I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

While booting, look at the console **

Did you see a "file system dirty" message ?
            If needed, do a

            Youtube Video

If the system isn't clean, it's mounted as read-only. Whicj=h means : nothing gets written to the disk .... like the config.

To keep the file system clean : always clean shut down. Ripping out the power - or other power losses : use an UPS.

Check also if your disk is ok.

** the one you look at when there are issues. Only when all goes well you can forget about the console access.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

Hmm, weird. Without seeing the crash report or at least the backtrace and panic it's hard to say what might be happening there.

You might try installing ZFS if you're not already.
