Hardware settings for SG-1100
-
Is there a doc with the recommend settings for the SG-1100?
Things like...
- Hardware Checksum Offloading
- Hardware TCP Segmentation Offloading
- Hardware Large Receive Offloading
- hn ALTQ support
- PowerD
- Cryptographic Hardware
- Thermal Sensors
- Use RAM Disks
-
Disable all hardware off-loading if you see any odd behaviour. The defaults there are usually fine though.
There are no hn interfaces in the SG-1100 so does nothing.
The CPU does nit support software frequency control so powerd does nothing.
Use safeXcel in 21.02.
There are no thermal sensors.
Use ram disks if you are installing somewhere that power cannot be guaranteed and you do not need to use packages that require large /var space like Snort or Suricata. Doing so mitigates the risk of filesystem damage if the firewall loses power.Stevev

@stephenw10 Could you recommend a sane ramdisk size for each of the required directories for those with no packages running? Minimums shown in the gui sounds dangerous as described in the docs, but the only recommended size on the docs looks too big for SG-1100.
I'm not looking for a warranty on the advice, just a good guess.

I use double the defaults, so 80 and 120MB, and have not seen any issues.
