      Hello there,

      should I go with Supermicro A2SDi-4C-HLN4F (Atom C3558, 4 Cores, 2,2 Ghz), NRG Systems IPU675 (i7-7500U, 2 Cores, 2,7 Ghz) or maybe the IPU 672 with i5-7200U, 2 Cores and 2,5 Ghz.

      Conditions:

      • 1Gbit/s Download, 500Mbit/s Upload should be possible to reach, because I have a fiber gigabit connection
      • OpenVPN (if Hardware is not to weak and the loss speed is not too much) or WireGuard

      Thanks for your input!

All of those will pass 1Gbps firewall & NAT.

None of them will pass 1Gbps OpenVPN.

OpenVPN is single threaded though so single core performance counts. The 7500U will do best there.

What is about WireGuard and/or IPsec performance? IPsec is single threaded as well and WireGuard will benefit from the cores, right? Will be the i7-7500U the best choice for WireGuard as well or will the more cores from the atom beat it?

Too many variables for me. 😉

I'd have to test that to know for sure.
