I recently attempted to update an SG-5100 to the most recent version of pfSense. After restarting, it no longer boots properly. When connected to console, I see that it just loads to a prompt:

      FreeBSD/x86 boot
      Default: 0:ad(0,a)restart
      boot:

Not sure where to go from here. Is there a way to reinstall the pfSense software?

        Hi,
Contact Netgate support, they send you a mail with a link so you can download a firmware.
Burn it a USB drive with Etcher. (see manual for all r=the details).
Use the key to boot from.
        Install a clean 2.5.0.
        Done.
(My own private tips : keep the key on a save place - update it ones in a while - test the key ones in a while )

Btw : make regular a backup copy of your config file.
It is most probable that the install process finds the existing config file on the partition that won't boot anymore (just : never count on it ;) )

Edit : and where are the logs ??
