-
Hello, I am new to pfsence. After installed the pfsence was running fine. the I am seeing huge bottleneck on over my ISP ont speeds. Which is around 300up/down. And i get via pfsence is not more than 5% of that speed. One workarround was that if reboot the router then ot used run at full speeds upto 1 and a half days. Please Help me. If you need any logs and data let me know.
This the pfsence box.
G2010

1 intel nic as lan
This is the speedtest result. after some time.
Thank you for reading this.

@saswatasarkar13 1 Quick question, what is the router/CPE from the ISP?
-
@bossaops Its a Fiber ONT from jio. I am from India. btw Thanks for replying.

@saswatasarkar13 I wish I could help more, but I don't know much about that particular router, nice to see FTTH devices coming down in price though. The way you describe the issue sounds like the router doesn't have much buffer, often lots of DNS queries over UDP will exhaust the router's memory, and a reboot will clear it (or it could be a memory leak, so many possibilities).
Sorry I can't help more than that.

@bossaops How do you know it got lowered in price? Btw how to check that the buffer is getting full?
-
@saswatasarkar13 How? There's a reson you usually see FTTC and the last hundred feet being DSL or coaxial cable, most of it has to do with the cost of a fiber terminating CPE (that and fiber is delicate).
Depends on how much you can see if you log into the ONT, another question, is the address on your pfsense WAN port a public IP, or is a NAT address?
-
@bossaops Ou yeah, thats for sure.
My ONT is very closed. But it gives better speed than my pfsence Box. (Sadly) Does not like to share any thing. Thats a NAT address.
Btw when i used to use openwrt there was not any problem.
