New Hardware Comparison Chart For Netgate Appliances

That should get you a pretty big box ;)
I would think you could get a 7100 with that budget, and pretty much future proofs you to having ability to do 10ge..
https://www.netgate.com/solutions/pfsense/xg-7100.html
The 7100 lists for $899 on the netgate site.. That is for sure under the budget in euro.. Even if you don't use the exchange rate your still in line with that number. Electronics can be funny when it comes to exchange rates... While it might be $100 USD, and you would think that would only be like 84€, they sell it in that market for 100€, etc..
Or the 5100.. If you want the discrete interfaces vs switch ports..

@johnpoz i will definetly check the price rates in europe as well just to be sure! Thanks for your help, friend. :)

Man would be sweet as hell to have a 7100 to play with... Let us know what you go with, always here to help and discuss pfsense..
The only bad thing is the ability to do 10ge would get me spending more money wanting to fire that up ;)
-
@johnpoz i feel you, but need to get rich first somehow :D I´ll let you know as soon as i got one :)

@Netboy1990 I wish I wish I wish...hope this works. I myself will probably get the SG 2100 for Christmas.
-
@Phantom_Stage dont forget that today is black friday or the start of black week, so maybe you can treat yourself if you are lucky :D
-
@Netboy1990 lol that would be awesome but sadly I won't be able to take advantage of the opportunity.

None of the hardware specs in the hardware store mention max MTU per port (since some units have multiple vendor network chipsets solutions in the same package).
I was disappointed to find out AFTER I purchased my SG-3100 that it could not do 8K jumbo frame which makes setting up storage or vmkernel VLANs possible -- especially with a 10Gbase-T switch in the mix where jumbo is a requirement. Most vendors allow a max MTU of 9000 to handle Ethernet frame overhead with 8192 byte datagrams. The SG-3100 limit of 2.5K datagrams is a non-starter.
Please update the site content to make the max MTU clearly accessible to make an informed decision.
-
@dennis_s Still no mention of max MTU for each model.
-
@lohphat I'll bring this suggestion up to the team and see if we can get it added.

@dennis_s wow so helpful! Can you post an updated version with some new products?
LOL, besides the new-ish SG-2100, that's all they've got right now.
