My ISP in Germany has an automatic process which will throttle down internet speed at a certain frequency of connection break offs while assuming the line is not capable of connection speed provided. Therefore like to have as little self initiated connection breaks as possible. (example of how automation starts to dictate our own actions in order to adapt)

Reset states at WAN IP change enabled

Feel that disabling/enabling periodic reset at WAN interface settings should not initiate a WAN interface reset. This setting merely involves adding or removing a cron entry.
So why does change this setting trigger a WAN connection reset?

Think this is currently an unfortunate side affect due to that any change on WAN interface configuration page triggers a reset of all states as I have configured. Just believe that adding/change/remove of "Periodic Reset" schedule should be an exception on reset of states while it does not involve actual change of network configuration. (deliberately not wrote: interface configuration)

Have considered to disable reset of states at change of WAN configuration. Do not see the benefit of that for my clients because at every WAN reset I get a new WAN IP-address. (admit that I have not tested with a disabled states reset due to top statement)

Any thoughts from your side would be welcome!

@lf1985 , usually periodic wan reset doesn't trigger a whole reset, it seems that your ISP puts you on different internet profile after fluctuating happens on your line. ISP already assigned you with a fix IP address.

Btw have you tried factory reset your modem?

What the Threadstarter want to know is why, when changing in the pppoe GUI ONLY the hour and minute for the "Periodic Reset", the whole WAN pppoe interface has to be resetted.

          my 2 cents,
