      Hello all,

      First some links for info on the products I'm discussing:

      1. Raspberry Pi 4 Compute module pricing & details:
        Details
        Pricing - $25-$90 USD, depending on storage & WiFi
      2. Carrier Board Mini - has 2 x Gb NICs & includes a case - $30 USD

      Raspberry Pi 4 can run FreeBSD 12.x arm64.

      Any consideration of a Raspberry Pi 4 compatible version of pfSense, or opening up the package repository for it, at least for community testing?

      Anyone have any idea of performance for the Raspberry Pi 4?

        There are several forums where people posted about RPi4's doing NAS work approaching wire speed. With my own experience working with Pis I would expect over 500Mbps assuming no advanced packages and a reasonable amount of firewall rules.
        They seem good at moving data, less good at thinking about the data they are moving.

          The reference to moving data vs. thinking about the data - was that perception with the Raspberry Pi 4?

            @nicholfd To be fair it is perception. I had to compile some code for DoH on a Pi and it ran more than 30 minutes. Same compile on a VM on a gen4 i7 took less than 5 minutes. In my experience Arm CPUs are a little weak in computational work. That is to be expected, the chips are meant to run phones and not use much power.
            Your RPi build is interesting and may be good for most home users. I am interested in finding out how fast it can go.
