      Hi all,

Using a PC Engines apu1d and pfSense 2.5.0 CE runs just fine on it with VLAN's on a 500/40 wan connection.

I am trying to figure out if I need to enable Mitigations or just leave it off.

In System / Advanced / Miscellaneous settings there is an option called "Microarchitectural Data Sampling Mitigation" and it is currently set to Mitigation Disabled.

Do I need it enabled to "VERW instruction (microcode) mitigation enabled" or should I leave it on disabled?

Will it give me a performance penalty if I enable it?

There is a bit of knowledge missing from my side how this cpu microcode patching works and all.

Is it just to protect the box against attacks from local users logged into the device or is it also protecting from attacks from the network side?

It's a great little box the PC Engines apu1d but when we get fiber 1000/1000 I think I need to build a dedicated PC for it.
