I used to run pfSense on a no-name mini PC that had a 100mbit wan+lan, and when I upgraded to gigabit Internet, it was no longer useful, and at the time, I went with a consumer ASUS router instead of a new pfSense box.

Now I want to go back to pfSense, but it feels like multi-gig in on the verge of becoming mainstream and I don't want to purchase a 1gbit only $299 SG-2100 that i'll be using for a decade to come if I upgrade my LAN (imminently) and Internet (next few years) to 2.5Gbit+.

Are there any known plans to release a newer version of eg SG-2100 with dual 2.5Gbit ports?

@finite9 let’s just say that I’m upgrading my home LAN to 2.5gbps, and that there are good reasons to do so.

Some cable modems have a 2.5gbps port, too.
