      I have an ubutnu box that usually is connected to VPN.

      I Whitelisted all subnets in teh VPN settings and this box is accessible via ssh and responds to ping.

      I do connect to this box sometimes via VNC from a Windows 10 system.

      Problem - when I try to connect for the 1-st time via VNC from Windows 10 my connection times out and fails. Then if I ping the ubuntu box and VNC again - connections succeeds !

      Anybody knows what in the world is going on ?

      Thx

        Similar problem with work and home PCs. DNS issue for me. FQDN first time always works. Ping and short name always works. YMMV

          I will try to exclude DNS from the equation by using the IP

          I think (need to confirm) it did not matter.

                  Does the first ping time out? I have seen that at work but only when crossing a router.

                  If so that time could cause Windows to become bored and give up.

                    no, ping seems to be working always either via FQDN or IP

                      @chudak

                      The problem is not limited to Windows.

                      Seem to be related to when I connect to NordVPN other systems are having troubles to connect/resolve its name/IP

                      What really makes it's interesting why after ping it works?!
