Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question, but I see it as a development decision/question.

Currently it seems pfsense supports watchdog on only the geode platform.

I am curious if there is a reason that SW_WATCHDOG isn't currently supported. I would assume it was because of need for another kernel config, but it appears there is now installer support for multiple kernels? Is it because of this, and/or lack of interest/time, or because it doesn't work [well]?

Basically I am trying to figure out if is worth adding, even if it is just for my personal use. I haven't used it before, I don't know if it works (but assume it does) and am looking to see if there is a logical reason to not use it. This would be a precursor (in my mind) to 7.0+ ipmi/watchdog support.
