Has anyone gotten check_mk v2 to work with pfsense?

A few months ago, I deployed check_mk v1.6 and it's been working fine with pfsense as setup.
Tonight, i went to complete my v2 setup and noticed it cannot connect to the pfsense host. Even though, my telnet session from the check_mk v2 box works fine to port 6556 of the pfsense box and returns values other than a session disconnect.

I did no reconfiguration of the pfsense check_mk agent. As, I already had a 2nd IP configured.

All I see is this during the connection test from the check_mk v2 gui to add host and do a connetion check ... haven't found anything else in the logs.

API Error:Your request timed out after 110 seconds. This issue may be related to a local configuration problem or a request which works with a too large number of objects. But if you think this issue is a bug, please send a crash report.

I use the pfSense Check with SNMP and CheckMK Client at the moment. But I'm trying to figure out, if theres a better way like checks over SSH.

Very sad, that theres no agent installation over the package manager :(
