Migrating from SG-3100 to SG-5100

@styxl I just did this. I believe I was prompted to fix the port references. Otherwise, it worked exactly as you would expect.

A bit related question: SG-5100 and SG-7100 both have very same CPU (Atom C3558) but Netgate lists them having difference in performance: 3.66 Gbps forwarding vs 18.6 Gbps. Why is that?

@nva if I recall right the 7100 had one or two 10Gig sfp ports on it or something like that. You could look at the hardware specs to be sure but that's what I remember.

i am happy to report that this worked like a charm, i only had to fix a few interfaces and vlan assignments. the SG5100 is a beast of a router...

@styxl - I am about to try the same thing; did you need to hand edit the CONFIG.XML to correct the port names/vlans, or did the 5100 UI prompt you for those fixes?

@draco no need to hand edit, you will get a prompt or you can go to the interfaces menu and edit them.

@styxl Just to follow up -- this didn't work for me. My config has multiple VLANs, lots of rules, and depended on the Marvel switch behavior for LAN1 - LAN4 on the 3100.
I wound up taking on the config.xml editing after experimenting to create bridges to replicate the Marvel switch. Once I had that working, the editing wasn't too bad. It was a full day of work though.
Now all that remains is the testing

@draco oooh interesting to know, i only had a simple setup with 2 Vlan's.

@styxl Just FYI - Plan B didn't work either. I wound up buying a D-Link smart switch and running my no-VLAN + 2 VLANs out of the LAN port, letting the switch do the rest (as others suggested in this thread).
